According to the think tank Centre for Cities, Cambridge ranks top across several different metrics for pleasant living – lowest inequality, highest proportion of residents with high-level qualifications, lowest proportion of residents with no formal qualifications, fastest rising house prices (is that good?), most punt touts, most affable dukes, etc. – and when all the numbers are crunched together, Cambridge comes out top, just ahead of London and, er, Aldershot.

The best thing about living in Cambridge, which the report doesn’t seem to mention (I’ve only glanced at it), is its traversability – it’s flat and small, hence you can get across it on a bike. And of course, it’s not Aldershot.
